Long Tables Are What We Do Best

Fifty years on the hunger street add up to a great many celebrations. The Beefeater has been seating families, groups of friends and work teams since 1972, and we have learned that a long table deserves exactly the same care as a table for two: the same old cow ribeye, the same charcoal fire, the same unhurried service.

This page brings together the dates we run through the year: our guided wine tastings, the New Year's Eve dinner and the company dinner season. All are booked through WhatsApp and all have limited capacity, because the dining room is the size it is and we would rather turn people away than overfill it.

If your celebration does not fit any of the three, write to us anyway. Birthdays, Christmas lunches, farewell dinners, reunions: tell us the date and the number of guests and we will tell you honestly whether we can look after you properly.

Guided Wine Tastings

An evening spent working out why one wine carries a ribeye and another does not.

We open the cellar and travel through the appellations we know best: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Bierzo and Rías Baixas. Every wine comes with something off the same grill we use every night, because a tasting without food only tells half the story and pairing makes far more sense with the plate in front of you.

You do not need to know anything about wine to come along. The session is relaxed, the talking is kept short and the tasting is not. If you would like a preview, our wine list sets out the full house selection.

31 December

New Year's Eve Dinner

The last night of the year, at the usual table.

Some of our guests have been seeing the year out with us for two decades, and every 31 December the same faces come back round. The dining room dresses up for the occasion and the grill works exactly as it does on any other night: natural charcoal, old cow beef, cooked to the point.

New Year's Eve fills up weeks ahead, so it is not one to leave until December. Write to us and we will confirm availability, sitting times and the booking conditions for that night.

November to January season

Company Dinners

For teams who would rather have a good steak than a hotel function room.

Company dinners have a poor reputation and it is almost always the venue's fault. Here your team sits in the same room as everyone else, eats exactly what they would eat on any other night, and nobody has to feign enthusiasm for a lukewarm buffet.

We work with parties of various sizes and shape the evening around what you need, from a long table ordering off the full menu to a set menu that keeps the service moving. Send us the date, the number of guests and a rough budget, and we will come back with something concrete.

What guests ask us most when organising a celebration

Do you take bookings for groups and company dinners?

Yes. We host company dinners, celebrations and group meals all year round. We recommend booking ahead on WhatsApp, particularly between November and January, our busiest season.

How often do you run wine tastings?

We hold guided tastings regularly through the year, with limited places at each session. Dates are announced in advance; message us on WhatsApp and we will let you know about the next one.

Are you open on New Year's Eve?

Yes. The dinner on 31 December is one of our most established fixtures and tables are taken weeks in advance. Ask about availability and conditions on WhatsApp.

Can the whole restaurant be booked?

Please ask. Depending on the date and the size of your party we can look at reserving a specific area of the dining room or the entire restaurant. Let us know the date, number of guests and type of event.
